Triskelion holder

Date: 10/4/25 - 10/10/25

Objective: Create a multipurpose holder for plate-like objects

Overview:

With this design I created a visually appealing holder that’s able to hold mobile phones, tablets, books, clipboards, or any other object that is thin and flat enough. Originally created to make a simple phone holder, the design is flexible enough to hold many other items at various angles to suit the user’s needs.

Constraints:

  1. The holder must be able to hold a smartphone at various angles
  2. The holder should be aesthetically pleasing

The Design:

The name and inspiration for this design is the ancient neolithic symbol of the triskelion – three clockwise spirals conjoined in the middle. While the aesthetic background for this design is rather pedestrian, the geometric construction posed a more unique challenge. To achieve multiple support angles, the design requires the use of varying leg lengths connected to the triangular center. The end result is three primary viewing angles (50, 60, and 70 degrees) with tangentially connected circular arcs, forming a neat and geometrically well-defined construction.
